About me

Violin enthusiast, hopeless nerd, crazy adventurer.

I guess this at least paints a picture of who I am. To give you a some more details, I had just finished my PhD. in bioinformatics when I decided that booking a single way ticket to South America, buy a bicycle and camp around was a good idea. Turns out, it was!

One thing leading to another, I said goodbye to my friends and set off to my first ever bicycle tour, one that would see me through the most remote places of Argentina, Paraguay, Brasil and Chile. 8648km later, I reached Ushuaia, came back to Paris and did that again in Europe.

To all of you out there questioning your ability to go on such a trip, know this:

  • I didn’t do any sport beforehand. Just go slow at first, and trust that doing 5 daily hours (or more, or less) of bicycle will build up your muscles.
  • I didn’t speak the language. If you can, try to learn it! People are always more welcoming when it’s virtually effortless for them to communicate with you.
  • I didn’t know the first thing about bicycles. Go to your local shop and learn the basic stuff, it isn’t all that hard.
  • I had only few camping experiences before. I went on a few multi-days hikes, but I probably slept in a tent less than 20 times in my life before that.

Fast forward 6 years and I’ve been working a software engineering job and decided early 2024 to leave France to move to Stockholm, Sweden.

I don’t know if the list of all of my hobbies would fit on this page honestly (yes, I am aware this is a website). But you will often find me playing the violin, hiking, camping, learning languages, reading and endlessly tinkering and coding on my computer.

This website is hosted on my home server by the way!
